Press Release: New Powdered Polymeric Odor-Removing Additive Launched – Dual Function for Efficient Odor Control & Processing Modification, Empowering Low-VOC Upgrade of Rubber & Plastics

2026/09/23

A new powdered polymeric odor-removing additive specially developed for plastic and rubber systems is now available on the market. It addresses long-standing industry pain points including pungent odor generated by thermal decomposition of base resins and additives, high VOC emissions, and sticking during molding. Featuring high adsorption capacity together with excellent processing compatibility, it delivers an efficient solution for greener rubber and plastic products.

During high-temperature molding processes such as pelletizing, injection molding and extrusion, polymer matrices, plasticizers, vulcanizing agents and other processing additives tend to separate out or decompose, creating sharp odors that compromise end-user experience and restrict product access to automotive, household and other sectors. This powder deodorant additive adopts a high-specific-surface-area structure to capture volatile small-molecule odor substances in the system, removing foul and irritating smells rather than simply masking them with fragrances. It sustainably improves olfactory performance and reduces residual VOCs.

The product combines odor elimination and processing modification. Besides effective deodorization, it provides internal lubrication to improve melt flowability and anti-blocking property, lowering the risk of sticking to mold during discharging and demolding and stabilizing production. Fine powder particles achieve outstanding dispersion in rubber and plastic matrices, avoiding visual defects such as white spots and agglomerates to secure high yield rates.

Outstanding thermal stability is one of its core advantages. It remains stable without decomposition or performance loss at temperatures up to 400°C, so deodorizing functionality is retained even in high-temperature processes like pelletizing and high-heat injection molding. Easy to use, it can be dry-blended directly with polymer pellets without major changes to the original formulation.

It is compatible with a wide range of substrates: PVC, PE, PP, ABS, PA6, PET, PS, PVDC, rubber seals, and other general-purpose plastics, engineering plastics and rubber goods. It fits mainstream processing routes including pelletizing, injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, calendering and foaming.

Recommended dosage ranges from 0.2% to 0.3% based on the total weight of rubber & plastic raw materials, namely 200–300 g per 100 kg of feedstock. Add the powder directly at the mixing stage and perform high-speed homogenization before extrusion, injection molding or subsequent processing.

Note: Higher processing temperature accelerates fragrance loss. Customers are advised to run small-scale trials according to odor severity and processing conditions to confirm scent retention and final loading rate.

For optimal performance, full and homogeneous mixing between the additive and polymer feedstock is required to ensure sufficient contact. Avoid premature contact with oily or aqueous liquid materials during storage and pre-mixing, which may consume adsorption sites and weaken deodorizing capacity. Pilot testing is strongly recommended before mass production with your own formulation and equipment. Our technical team is available for support for formulation and process challenges.

Low-odor and low-VOC performance is an irreversible trend across the rubber and plastics industry. This dual-purpose powdered odor remover balances odor reduction, processing efficiency and surface quality. It works well with both virgin and recycled streams, helping manufacturers achieve odor upgrading at low cost and strengthen market competitiveness.
